Boy is doing his English (ELA) project at the last minute:
\nBoy: Can you look at my ELA project?
\nMe: Adam, you do it. He doesn’t like what I have to say.
\nAdam: Looks super.
\nBoy: Thanks.
\nAdam: Why can’t your mom look at this?
\nBoy: Because she told me it looks half-assed.
\nMe: Well someone has to tell you the truth.
\nBoy: I have such a loving, caring, supportive mom, who will always say nice things to me.
\nMe: As if.<\/p>\n

We put girl to bed. Recently the girl expressed surprise that women get their periods once a month.
\nMe: We need to read It’s Perfectly Normal<\/em><\/a>. I think there are some concepts you’re unclear on.
\nGirl: No! I don’t want to read it before bed!
\nMe: Okay, we can do it after school tomorrow.
\nGirl: Nooooooo! It’s sooooo boring!
\nMe: But you need to learn about puberty.
\nGirl: I know about it!
\nMe: I think you’re rusty.
\nGirl: No, I’m not.
\nMe: What does the body do when a girl gets her period?
\nGirl: I don’t want to talk about it! I don’t want to know about puberty! Why do I need to know?
\nMe: Because it’s going to happen to you.
\nGirl: It’s so boring!
\nMe: When you get your period, your uterus sheds its lining and\u00e2\u20ac\u201d
\nGirl: STOP! You’re making my butt hurt.
\nMe: Fine. We can talk about it another day. Go to sleep so Daddy and I can watch House of Cards<\/em>.
\nGirl: Why do you ALWAYS have to watch House of Cards<\/em>! This is the fifth night in a row!
\nMe: We like it.
\nGirl: But it’s the FIFTH night! Why? Why can’t you not watch it?
\nMe: Why is this upsetting you so much?
\nGirl (becoming very anxious): BECAUSE IT’S THE FIFTH NIGHT!
\nBoy: Look, would you rather have parents who watch House of Cards<\/em> or parents who smoke meth?
\nGirl: I JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND!<\/p>\n
